Child-Centred Therapy Empowering children through empathetic, guided support
I am a Child-Centered Therapist and Family Practitioner. I started my career as a secondary school based therapist and went on to build therapy departments in other schools. I believe young people need a blended approach to therapy, as it may sometimes be difficult to understand how the young person themselves are feeling.
At the core of my practice, I believe in the inherent strength and resilience of every child and family. I specialise in creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can explore their thoughts and feelings and work alongside them to change behaviours and thought processes. My work involves not just the child but also helping the young person convey difficult feelings to their families. Building and strenghting relationships is key.
I am adept at addressing a wide range of challenges, including behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, and the impacts of trauma. My approach is tailored to each child and family, integrating evidence-based practices with child-friendly techniques.
Apart from my clinical practice, I am a speaker and educator, frequently conducting workshops and training programs for parents, educators, and fellow therapists. I am a therapeutic supervisor and supervise the work of other psychotherapists, offering mental health support to teaching staff and charities. I am also an author of several articles in BACP and Context magazines.
My experience with young people often allows them to feel at ease. I am happy to use music and art as a way of expression, as well as talking therapy.
